Our Story
Get to Know Us - James Hardin, Owner
JH Plantscapes has proudly served the Greater Houston area for more than 45 years. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1978 with a degree in Horticulture, James Hardin spent a summer working in Human Resources at Yellowstone National Park before moving to Houston to begin his career in the corporate world. During that time, he also attended broadcasting school, earned his radio license, and worked for several radio stations, including KSBJ here in Houston.Driven by a lifelong desire to own his own business, James began with a crape myrtle farm, which ultimately led to the founding of JH Plantscapes. What started with a small crew has grown into a respected landscaping company built on hard work, quality craftsmanship, and integrity. James holds licenses in irrigation and chemical/pesticide application, and under his leadership, JH Plantscapes has earned numerous awards from the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association (TNLA) for outstanding landscape projects. More importantly, the company has built a reputation for doing the job right. Family has always been at the heart of JH Plantscapes, with family members involved throughout the years and a culture that treats employees with the same respect, accountability, and commitment.
Lindsey Unrein — Business Development & Client Relations
As JH Plantscapes celebrates more than 45 years of serving the Greater Houston community, our commitment to excellence continues through the next generation of our family. Lindsey Unrein, daughter of owner James Hardin, has been an integral part of the company for the past eight years, helping strengthen the business while carrying forward the values of integrity, professionalism, and personalized service that have defined JH Plantscapes since 1981.Lindsey earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Baylor University before completing the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World, where she developed valuable experience in customer service, communication, teamwork, and creating exceptional client experiences. She later gained corporate business experience before returning to the family business. Today, Lindsey oversees business administration while leading client relations and business development. Through strong communication, responsiveness, and a focus on lasting partnerships, she helps ensure every client receives the trusted service and personal attention that JH Plantscapes is known for. As part of a new generation of leadership, Lindsey also represents the growing number of women making a lasting impact in the landscape industry.By combining modern business practices with the family values that have guided JH Plantscapes for more than four decades, Lindsey is helping position the company for the future while preserving the excellence our clients have come to expect.
